We all have a weakness..mine happens to be shoes...for my children (if you haven't already guessed that).   When I came across the 'Gustav' by Vincent, I knew I just couldn't (or wouldn't) settle for anything less then this admirable special occasion shoe. 

The oxford classic is complimented with a shiny patent upper, giving the perfect finish to my well dressed beau. I discovered these little gems were not just fashionable, but comfortable -- as the ring bearer was found chasing the flower girl several times around the garden (and visa-versa).  I count myself very fortunate to have found such a formal shoe with a comfy fit.

Created by a doting uncle and his partner, who set out to find the perfect shoes for a very special nephew, "Vincent" -- but were never satisfied.  This inspired company in Stockholm, seeks to design shoes around the personality and lifestyle of a child.  What I love most about the Gustav and many other styles,  is the rounded toe --they have a signature 'dipped' look as it was noted how much Vincent loved to dip his food into various sauces and condiments.  It's especially nice in the classic fisherman's boot, above.

Vincent shoes start at pre-walker and go to about age 8.  They are made for both boys and girls.

Keen Kids Newport H2 - "Gotta Have Some Red"

I find red is a happy color, and wearing these sandals for the first time gave my son happy feet.

They were easily strapped on in the morning, and as the evening fell, I could hear the sound of velcro lifting.  "Mom", my son called.  "I wore these shoes all day!  "From catching to kickball, from stepping to stomping, this shoe maximized its hybrid functionality keeping up with a 5 year old -- ALL day. 

The webbing is soft, durable and dries easily.  It breathes without letting moisture in and the insole molds comfortably to your foot. An elastic cord for lacing perfects the fit.  The outward sole folds up, protecting the toes and giving it it's "Keen" look.  If that's not enough built into one little pair of shoes, Keen has also made reflectors on them as well.

Crocband Kids - Navy Croc with Red Stripe

My soon to be 16 year old daughter saw these coming out of the box and while her little brother was excitedly trying them on, she stated, "Mom, Crocs have come a long way."

As she said this I couldn't help but feel a similarity between Crocs and "Teen-hood."  Crocs came upon us unexpectedly, in a gangly, awkward way, saying, "Here I am!"  "Pay attention to me!"  And just as I see my daughter gaining poise and emerging into a beautiful young woman, Crocs have also matured into a head-turning delight.

When I asked our 5 year old why he liked his new crocs, he said, "Because they look like trainers and they make me run fast."  One of the fathers in our neighborhood took quick notice of these shoes, which is always a confident confirmation that this is a great Just for Jack pick.  Crocband Kids are light-weight, order-resistant and comfortable.
