Boys of Integrity

My husband often explains his work ethics by drawing a straight line across the whiteboard.  A few inches below he draws another line.  The first line, he explains, is the level of integrity you have for yourself.  Now, with the understanding that we all have bad days, dropping below that level of integrity can only go to a certain depth - (the second line).  But anything below that second line is "unacceptable" in his words.

When teaching our children these values, I always like to pipe in and say, "At the end of the day, it's how you've behaved...not anyone else."  Also to remember there's grit in integrity.  The young man Ian, in the Play of the Day demonstrates this perfectly.  Thank you Ian for being a great role model to those around you.

Kid News: Will Computer Games Help Children with Cystic Fibrosis?

I came across an interesting article by James Gallagher, who is a Health Reporter for BBC News.  Will Computer Games Help Children with Cystic Fibrosis?  When U.S. doctors noticed  young patients were choosing to play video games instead of doing their breathing exercises -- they combined the two.  I think you'll enjoy the read, as children use a spirometer as their game controller.  Breathing takes them through the game challenges -- and the kids are actually playing it!

Backyard Treehouse Survives in Manhattan

Three cheers for two little girls who get to keep their unique treehouse.  I think our boys will lend loud applause for this win.  Perhaps that complaining neighbor has been grown up for so long, they have forgotten how much a treehouse of this sort increases imagination...and obviously they were unaware of the Magic one can bring.

You know, I really think mummy and her two little girls should invite grumpy neighbor for lunch in the treehouse.  Maybe then a bit of memory will be jarred and he will have a glimpse of the joy obviously left behind somewhere.  (Oh dear, I feel another story coming on..better jot it down like the rest).  Perhaps among the "no smoking, no drinking, no swearing" rules, should be a new sign posted:  "Don't Mess with My Imagination".  For the full story click here.

Kids New Classroom is a Double Decker Bus!

Now this is what I call being Creatively Clever and Resourceful all in one go.   You see, our desires can always be met.  When this school in Cornwall, UK found funds lacking for a classroom extension, it didn't stop them.  This bus is not one that takes the children to school.  It is the school!  Read the story here.

Now, what is it that you're trying to do?  Surely the answer is right under your nose!
