"See that lady mommy?" asked my son as he pointed in the direction of the school stage. There sat three individals who looked to me as a trio of Janitors. It's always interesting dinning with a class of kindergarteners at lunchtime. "That lady works very hard mommy, she cleans up when we spill something" my son proclaimed as he brought my attention back to his important discussion. And sure enough, as the lunch carried on and in-between my hard to break habit of telling the other children to chew with their mouths closed, the spills occurred and with eagle eyes, these hardworking men and women jumped to the cause.
As lunch time came to an end, the 3 janitors then manned 3 large garbage cans. What an amazing amount of rubbish there is I thought -- and there are still 2 more lunch periods to go... I stopped to thank "The Lady" and let her know her hard work was noticed by my son. So true about all that trash at school... I also volunteer at my daughter's school and the garbage cans overflow after lunch.
